I'm 57 and have loved photography since childhood. I enjoy nature the most, but also structures & people. In 2013 I upgraded from a Canon Rebel XSi (450D) to a 60D. I love to get out and shoot when possible - but also enjoy the time editing and organizing. I've also archived thousands of older photos and slides - covering many decades and even in the 1800's.

Michael, Lake Palmdale is not a sag pond. It is a reservoir constructed in the late 1890's to contain water brought from Littlerock Creek to the east, long before Littlerock Dam was built in 1924. The water was moved 8 miles via the Palmdale Ditch. However, the lakes farther to the west, Lake Elizabeth and Lake Hughes are sag ponds, as well as Una Lake, a pond on the east side of Sierra Highway opposite the dam that made Lake Palmdale. And Wikipedia's info. about Lake Palmdale needs revision - the lake was not an artificial lake completed in 1924 along with the nearby Little Rock Reservoir created by Little Rock Dam. It existed long before Littlerock Dam. Lake Palmdale also receives water from the California Aqueduct, for use by Palmdale Water District.

Yes, I did camp at this lake that night. It was one of the most beautiful places on one of the most beautiful mornings that I have ever had the pleasure to experience. These kind of places help one to appreciate the beauty of our God and His creation.

Awesome photo. I was there in July 2001, but the lighting and colors were nothing like this. Would love to go back there - I live in S. California.

Yes, it is from Japan, not China. Huge difference!

I like your photo of one of my favorite areas along the river. The name of this fall is actually "Lower Falls", not Lower Rainbow Falls. I see now that I had commented 2-1/2 years ago, as well. Oh well.

I like your photo of one of my favorite areas along the river. The name of this spot is actually "Lower Falls", not "Little" Rainbow Falls, as your title states. Just thought you might want to know.

I do not have a face book page but my wife tries to keep a blog at http://schsmile.blogspot.com, and she has a face book page (Danette Schwarz). By your photos it looks like you were in my area of Oregon not too long ago. I live in Medford, just north of the California border along I-5. Since moving to Oregon I have only been back to Palmdale three times, the last was in April of this year. I do not even recognize the place but had fun seeing my old house. With all the development in Palmdale, it is amazing that the field across the street (where we built all the dirt forts) is still undeveloped. Anyway, I hope all is well with you and your family. Glenn

It's so tidy and rule, that almost unimaginable. good shot. like and collected. Greetings from China.

Thanks for the compliment. I get to the top by just climbing(zig-zagging)up the left side on the rocks, about 100' or so from the fall. There is a bit of a trail at the base along the left side and if you don't feel comfortable on the rocks, you can stay farther left and go wide. However, Mammoth Mountain has received record snow this season (624" to date) and there may still be a lot of snow back there still in June. They'll be skiing until July 4th. No doubt the rivers, streams and falls will be running strong for the summer. I'd check to make sure the area will open in June when you want to go.

Very nice photo of Mammoth Mountain and the sky & clouds. I have one posted at the same place, but you win! It's all about time of day. Love it!
