Those gun and another pair sitting on the opposite side of the bay where set up to protect the entrance to the harbor of Gaspe wich was used as a stagging area for cargo ship before convoying across to England. As you look a the bay you see a sand bar streching almost across ,at this point was streech an antisubmarine net to prevent a u-boat from having a good time with them cargo sitting at anchor.
