Nope, this is a photo of the Wolverine #4 mining shaft. I know this well, having lived there.
I don't know how it worked but the pipeline carried water & had been part of a project that supplied electrical power to the mine nearby.
Lake Superior about 6 feet lower...some walked across to Porter Island in summer of 2007.
Pile is just about all gone now too. Soon there will be no more rockhounding in the Upper Peninsula
This mountain of 'waste' rock is all gone. It was a great place to hunt for copper & silver.
Nice climbing walk to top.
