All roads, paths, etc in Afghanistan that had land mines in the area were edged with rocks, painted red on one side and white on the other. The white side was safe, the red side meant there were land mines and it would be unsafe to veer off the path.
Photo taken looking north; to get to the pillar, park alongside the local highway (not the interstate), walk down across the train tracks and back up to the pillar. It's just past the south end of Sarıseki.

A small clearing, after a steep 200m hike up from the road; from here, the path proceeds fairly unclearly up to the fortress
Karasis castle is the most likely location where Seleucus I kept his gold horde...
