This is the main Goodwill Store for Akron OH. They moved their main store from Mill Street in 1998 to here. The prices got higher and the quality of the merchandise got worse.
Standing here you can see the soup bowl effect of the Mahoning Valley. The downtown sits at the bottom of the bowl and the land around it is of higher elevation. Even this downtown has a dramatic effect from this perspective.

Youngstown once had four hospitals, but now has only two. This colossal building was once Youngstowns "South Side Hospital", out of business since the 1990's is now the home to a few city departments like the Health Department and Mahoning Co. Jobs and Family Services. The vast majority of the building is empty, only the small section of the forground is in active use, known as the Renaissance Center.
Looking over the east railing of the Market Street Bridge down to the Mahoning River. The river was a toxic flow thirty years ago, the river has been gradually cleaning itself, although the rivers bottom is still heavily contaminated with industrial waste.

A view westbound of the Madison Expressway (Rt422) taken from the bridge at Covington Street. This is an extremely dangerous stretch of the freeway. In cold weather Black Ice forms on the curve and many drivers find themselves engaged with a barrier or pole.
