The green fencing going down Wirt Street encloses the old "Evans Field", a center piece of afro-american culture in Youngstown for decades, a place where afro american baseball teams played in the 1940's and 1950's. A place for basketball, little league baseball/football, the staging area for local parades, The field does not exist any more. It is now the site of single family housing. The community around this area now has extremely few open parks to play in that are walking distance.
