tamarisk's conversations

Dear Sir;

We are making a book about Norwegian geology and stone industries, and need a photograph of rocks for coastal protection. We would like to consider this photo (or one of two others) for printing, and would like to know if you will give permission. Please note that this is not a book made for profit, so we cannot pay any fee for using it. However, you will recieve a nice book before Christmas, and your name will of course be mentioned. We are in a hurry, so please answer as quickly as possible.

Best wishes, Tom Heldal Geological Survey of Norway email: tom.heldal@ngu.no

This is indeed Cliff End but position on map is wrong; should be further n/e nearer to the wider part of the beach.

Hi tamarisk - I like your work, interesting stuff.

Romney Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway is still running. They unfortunately seem to have regular accidents though-people trying to race across the various level crossings I believe. Blimin expensive though, I've only been on it once as a child.

I've never seen anyone using these huts/sheds, but I always beleived they were used by the local fisherman to store nets etc.

Nephew and Uncle actually Catherine. Our skin was as smooth as silk after but it stank to high heaven!

This is Derek Jarmans famous 'Prospect Cottage' on Dungeness. I think it is now looked after by his partner.

Thanks Catherine, kind words.

always dreamed of having a beach hut...smiling...CC

I'm afraid I can't take any credit for the garden, I only took the photo. This is the garden, of the now dead film maker, Derek Jarman. He wrote an interesting book about the making of it and how it helped with with his battle with AIDS. I too am a professional gardener Dryopteris and love this place. Although I think if it were mine I'd have to put a fence up to stop the constant flow of visitors! Just added another colour shot of early summer.
