tonya's conversations

This is the historic rail car paint shop at the railroad museum.

Both above comments have some truth to them. Tonya is mainly correct.
The structure is dedicated to Eugene Talmadge, who served as the Democratic Governor of Georgia in 1933-37 and 1941-43.

The new bridge was originally named for the Native American Creek leader Tomochichi, an important figure in Savannah's founding in 1733. After public forums on the issue, the original name was restored for the new structure. The vertical supports of the original Talmadge bridge still stand and can be seen in the photo.

Savannahgirl is correct about Eugen Tamadge who was an unabashed white supremacist who reportedly admired Adolph Hitler.

The original bridge also suffered two ship-bridge collisions in July of 1983 and November of 1990.

Don't know if you were aware of this photo which was taken from almost exactly the same spot as yours.

This is property we bought earlier this year. It looks like we're neighbors ^___________^

Juanat, thanks for pointing that out! T_T Totally missed that!

I actually know where this is now, since I spent two weeks in Bath last October. When I took this picture, we were backpacking all over the place, and I couldn't remember where we'd been or where things were because we didn't stay in one place for more than a day or two XD However two weeks allows you to get to know a place a bit better :)

The title is a bit misleading, as there isn't any barrows (ancient burial mounds) within the bounds of the stone circle at Avebury. This looks as if it is taken from the outer 'defensive' ring of the site, though 'defensive' is probably also an unfair description too.

it is a car really?? it looklike a tatoo more.

It's called the Drhumor building. Pronounced drummer, not Dr. Humor. :-) a great example of the beaux arts style of architecture.

The photo is taken from Carfax, the central crossroads in Oxford, looking south down St Aldates, past the Town Hall on the left, towards Tom Tower of Christ Church College in the middle distance.

Some nice photos of Avebury, Tonya. The Red Lio is supposed to be haunted although I have been in several times the only spirits I saw were in my glass. You may be interested in my Aveburyphotos.
