When I was there in the 90s the "viking" was from Cape Breton. My grade 3 teacher, who was quite old when she taught me, told us that she had been teaching a lie. She had taught for over 30 years that Columbus was the first European to North America. She had just found out about the Vikings in Newfoundland. This is a great place to visit.
