Built by the Tudors king Henry VIII to keep the French from invaded England after he divorced Catherine of Aragon.
The gun ports hid the giant 42 pounder coastal defence canons - built to keep the invaders away from the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth (home of the British Navy).

the beach level it self is about 10/12 foot higher much easier to get up the rope :)
