The Tokaido Shinkansen / the Tokaido main line is an elevated station together. The Shinkansen home has the yard south side, the Tokaido main line home in the yard north side.
At direct management Station, a green window and an automatic ticket vendor, an automatic ticket gate, an automatic adjustment machine, waiting for place are installed. The wicket beats in four places, and 1 becomes the wicket for exclusive use of the Shinkansen.
I use two Shinkansen relative expression homes 2 line. The home contacts with the vice-main line, and, as for the main line going between top and bottom side reader lines, it is it with the passage line. In addition, there is the train going only as far as this station by departure from Tokyo area when I enter the uphill home.
In the vicinity of the east of the station, the East Shizuoka Station north side, maintenance of tracks base (Shizuoka maintenance of tracks place) and custody line 2 for night anchorage trains have a line.

There are many trains going only as far as this station, but comes to have the transfer to the same course at the same home. In addition, it is set one of them a long run train running from this station to the Nagoya area (the weekday, Nagoya, Saturday / the holiday, Gifu) early in the morning.
(a periodical train) is the second line departure and arrival with top and bottom in spite of being high speed "moonlight" from the "Oogaki night travel" times of the forerunner.

東海道新幹線・東海道本線共に高架駅である。新幹線ホームは構内南側、東海道本線ホームは構内北側にある。
直営駅で、みどりの窓口や自動券売機、自動改札機、自動精算機、待合所などが設置されている。改札口は4ヶ所で、うち1つが新幹線専用改札口となっている。
新幹線相対式ホーム2面2線を使用する。ホームは副本線に接し、上下副本線の間を通る本線は通過線となっている。なお、東京方面発で当駅止まりの列車は上りホームに入る場合もある。
駅の東、東静岡駅北側付近に、保線基地(静岡保線所)と夜間停泊列車用の留置線が2線ある。
東海道本線島式ホーム2面4線を使用する。1・4番線が本線、2・3番線が副本線(中線)となっている。この他、1番線の外側に副本線(通過線)が1線ある。
電車留置線が構内東側に1線、西側に4線設置されており、折り返し列車などの留置に使用されている。また東側へ伸びる留置線と本線の合流地点付近から静岡車両区へ抜ける通路線が分岐している。
日中は上下共に1時間6本と、静岡県内では特に発着本数の多い駅である。当駅止まりの列車が多いが、同一方向への乗り換えは同じホームでできる様になっている。また、当駅から名古屋方面(平日は名古屋、土曜・休日は岐阜)へ運転するロングラン列車が早朝に1本設定されている。
快速「ムーンライトながら」(定期列車)は、前身の「大垣夜行」時代から上下とも2番線発着である。
