I recently hiked the peak up from sutherland. You reach a saddle from old logging roads then around 4600 (at the saddle) head north along the ridge. Its a total bushwack from the saddle to the summit. You'll find a stake in some rock at the summit. I don't recomend this hike if you're crunched for time. But do this hike in the late fall early spring because the bushwack would be unbearable in the summer. email or msg me if you have questions.

Especially Boone NC area and Ashe County (Three Top Mtn, Rich Mtn. Snake Mtn, etc). I grew up in my teens in Ashe County and in Boone.
I still have Mother, Siblings who live in Ashe County, and I own a few acres in Creston, with an awesome view of Three Top Mtn from my land there.
I have often wanted to climb Three Top and The Peak Mtn. and will some day while I'm still able and before I get too old.
Have you been to the summit of The Peak, yet? If so, got any pictures from the summit?
If interested, feel free to email me for discussion of Ashe and Watauga Counties. I'm fairly well acquainted with that area, and would be interested to know your affiliation with those mountains and trails.
