That's correct. We didn't have ideal weather for photography but Wales isn't famous for having year round sunshine , so I guess R saw it as it typically is.

True. Avocets aren't rare either these days. Surprising how the fortunes of some species has changed . Many in serious decline but others doing remarkably well.
