Galatas ©
Amateur picture taker from the northwest of England. I don't consider myself a photographer. just a guy with a camera. Owning a camera doesn't make you a photographer any more than owning a piano or a guitar makes you a musician.
I enjoy walking and photographing wildlife.
Most of my Panoramio pics are in line with the site's original intended purpose ie simply to show places on the map as they are on the ground , rather than for any "artistic" content or technical merit. I'm far too lazy to do complex image manipulation ; a few basic adjustments and that's it.
Since "Street View" made most of our photos redundant I now try to take photos mostly where the "Street Car" couldn't go. Hence my many bird photos.
WYSIWYG does not apply to photography (every pleasant scene doesn't automatically make a great photo).
Hindsight is a wonderful thing , nevertheless , I try not to make excuses for my many bad photos.
I still get a great deal of pleasure from taking them even if not many turn out as well as I hoped. All shortcomings are down to me and my lack of skills either in taking or processing my pics.
Each time I learn something new it makes me aware how little I know and how much more there is to learn.

Great shot of a stunning bird. A little different to the Bee-eater species we see in Europe.

The first Bee-eater I ever saw was on the island of Kefalonia , Greece. That was many years ago. I never saw one again until last year in Spain.

Found the card... still shopping for patience.

That's very flattering. Thankyou.
The Arctic Tern is famous for its migration; it flies from its Arctic breeding grounds to the Antarctic and back again each year. This 19,000 km (12,000 mi) journey each way ensures that this bird sees two summers per year and more daylight than any other creature on the planet.

WOW! We can only see the Turnstone in Thailand in winter only and rarely. And its non-breeding plumage is not so beautiful.
