'The ones (Samothracians) that were caught by the cataclysm ran to the highest locations and while the sea was rising more and more, they prayed to the native gods; and being saved, they set up stones around the island and dedicated altars upon which they offered sacrifices up to the present day. From these events it becomes obvious that they inhabited Samothrace before the cataclysm.' From Diodoros' of Sicily Library of History. Book 5:47(5).
