To mike1860: You have probably forgotten which church this is. To any other person viewing this pic, this is the Church of St. Peter and as far as is known, the fountain in front is no longer there.

　　金阁寺是1397年足利家族第三代将军义满作为别墅而修建的，义满死后被改为禅寺“菩提所”。据说以金阁为中心的庭园表示极乐净土，被称作镜湖池的池塘与金阁相互辉映，似乎是京都代表性的风景。特别是在晴好天气，可欣赏到倒映在镜湖池中金壁辉煌的金阁和蔚蓝色的天空，如同美术明信片。金阁寺还有独特的地方——游客拿到的不是参观入场门票而是写有祝福话的纸符。另外，院中的不动堂旁边有中文和韩文的神签可供占卜。
