Like+++
Saluti miomaomaomio, giuseppe
That use to be known as Cardwell Bay. I was stationed over in Holy Loch on the Submarine Tender. When I had "Shore Patrol" Duty, I would try to get Cardwell Bay. It was quiet there. A Passenger Boat would come over from the Sub Tender at 5PM and drop all the Sailors off who either lived in Gourock, or just came to get drunk at the pubs. At Midnight, the boat would come back and pick up the drunks. There use to be a Shore Patrol Shack at the bend of the Pier. The Pier itself was built before WWI. (I remember an old timer saying,"Late 1800's") There were old lead pipes that brought water to the Shack. We would have to let the water run for a while to get the "Rust" out of it, to make a decent pot of Coffee.
