They are not cadets who stand there all year round. They are of the military police forces of the Guard Battalion, and seldom even corporals. I know it, I have been standing on that same spot, and it's very irritating job.
The roof height cannot be adjusted. Some of the guys in my company were so tall that they could not see a thing during the hour they stood there.
By the way, they have slightly lighter clothing during the summer.

This cave under Schloss Bronnen reminds me of the gloomy scene. I recommend everyone to listen the whole Ring cycle.
