ChrisVilaVelha's conversations

The Vila of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, today's Vila Velha, is without a doubt the oldest permanent European settlement in Brazil. The King of Portugal, Dom Manuel I, in 1516, made the first effort to colonize Brazil, he offered free passage, tools and technical assistance to any of his subjects willing to come to Brazil to cultivate sugar-cane. An administrator, Pedro Capico, was contracted to organize and manage the first sugar-mill here on the island of Itamaracá.

The pulpit, the wooden balustrade is missing. Access was by a staircase which was unfortunately removed during the restauration in 1985.

Caro Bruno, por caso, isso é a Cachoeira de Itamarcá ?
