I strongly recommend you to visit Guanajuato, at Central Mexico. It's beautiful and very historical. My daughter attends the University there.
And yes, there are mountain trails near. When you are there, ask for La Bufa.

We were thinking about traveling beyond Cabo to Todos Santos and La PaZ but wanted to know if these places or the roads to them would be safe for two Americans with spotty Spanish. Your photos are wonderful and we would really appreciate being able to see this place if the conditions enroute and in town are safe. Please advise.
