My uncle used to own and operate the little farm shop. Red-roofed building at bottom right of the picture. This was back in the 1970's. His dead now and the shop is closed.

I am so pleased you were interested in the post card. It was from my granfathers collection. He was a musician and played the viola or fiddle onboard liners. I'm afraid I was the culprit who tore off the corner for the stamp!

The Apple Express runs from PE's Humewood Station Museum to Avontuur on special occasions, stopping in Joubertina on the way. These steam engines hauled tons of apples from this fruit producing valley to the harbour 180km away, hence the name.
