Selling local art helps the economy because people who live in Birmingham want to support it by buying Birmingham. It keeps the money in Birmingham.

I think the intention was to keep some of the original aspect of the city. It was probably to create a sense of origin. The history behind it could make for a large area of growth if people would realize it’s potential and it could become a market like the picture we saw of Dublin.

I don't see any purpose. Maybe if they changed them into street lights they would be a little more useful in raising the level of safety in the downtown area after dark. Perhaps increasing the safety would provide commuters with a reason to stay after work.

The need to survive. Simply eating and drinking allows for socialization and a closer community. Lucy's is a good example of that, also. Perhaps providing cheaper places to eat would allow for more socialization of this type to occur.

As far as I could see from the picture and from being there myself, I think putting a Starbucks there only increased the identities of the Lucy's clientèle. The Starbucks has probably increased Lucy's customers as well.

This transportation system is cheap, also, but you must arrive on time because the bus only comes around every once in awhile. It also slows people down by stopping often.

This building could be restored showing the community our ability to grow and make Birmingham a better place. Showing the community of such competence promotes local shopping leading to economy growth.

This could possibly help build a sense of community by allowing people a place to gather

They could have created a parking deck nearby.

If people can sit outside they can bring there animals. They can also see how birmingham is changing into a better place to live.
