Wow, how dramatic. Very well captured.
Flying into this airstrip was the thrill of a lifetime. We were told that because of the steep mountains there was no go around option. I flew into it twice and out twice.
I walked this dock hundreds of times in 1956-57. Good duty at Narsaruaq--movies changed nightly, good food, cheap beer ((10 cents a can), and a nice club. Would like to go back for a visit.
I also arrived in Narsarsuaq in August, 1956. I left there in August 1957. I was in the U.S. Army and attached to the Air Force. My duty station was at the port. During the winter I walked daily to the hanger type building the top right of the photo to flush the commode so that it would not freeze. Many good memories.
