This was indeed GE's former headquarters. The complex was built by Remington in 1915 to fill an order for a czarist Russian armies during WWI. But the war ended after a few short years, the Russians repudiated the contract, and Remington fell so deeply in debt they turned to the US government for help. GE purchased the site in the spring of 1920 for $7MM and owned it until it was leveled in 2012. It was their headquarters until 1974.
