Mike McDonald's conversations

This is the W.M.Barnett Store built in 1898. W.M. Barnett was an early settler of Wasco. This was his second store in Wasco, which included a car dealership. Mr. Barnett was also a banker. His Daughter Marie Barnett Cooper became Oregon's first woman bank president, across the street in the families bank in May 1917.

Hi Mike, My name is Angie and I work for the Columbia River Gorge Commission. We are producing a report called "The State of the Columbia River Gorge" that will assess the conditions of gorge resources. We don't have any funding for the report, but I am wondering if you might be willing to let us print a few of your photos in our document. You would of course be credited. Please contact me through our website at www.gorgecommission.org if you are interested. Thanks! Angie

Great photo. Is the shoot location closer to Carrick on hwy 97? Thanks for sharing!

What are Jersey barriers? I don't get it -- though I was born (in 1931) & raised in NM & still live here.

Beautiful shot here. -Malcolm

Wow, what a vast landscape...the sight of the road several miles in the distance is awesome. Greetings from Blacksburg, VA -Malcolm

Sweet road picture! -Malcolm
