Thank you J - it's very simple but I agree it looks OK. Interestingly, it is by far my most viewed photo on Panoramio!! N

It was shot on a Canon 10D with a Canon 17mm wide angle lens that was on a Kaidan pan head at the time. Had been shooting a panorama at the castle before sundown, and had driven up the road to find some coffee. By the time we were coffee'd out and driving back again, the sun had set and the castle was lit up like a Christmas tree, and we had to stop. It was pitch dark and too cold to fiddle with the camera that was still on the pan head, so I set up the tripod as it was and shot the castle as a panorama, stitching it using Doubletake.

This is a shot that largely happened by accident, but ended up working very well.

Great photo and a clear day! Last time I was there we could just about see the shore line.

Still, deciding when and from which perspective to capture the moment remains (hopefully) to the photographer - amateur or pro.

Hello Palmina - only just read your comment. Yes it's a marvellous place and this was a special day - got several pleasing photos that day... Opportunities these warmer winters are few and far between...
