November 2008. I had a two night stay. Very friendly and helpful staff, with clean and comfortable accommodation and excellent breakfast. Downside, no internet connection but there is an internet cafe across the street and quite noisy at night, especially from the restaurant underneath so ear plugs were necessary.

Hallo Emiel,ik ben Johan Mulder uit Haarlem, maar ik heb absoluut banden met Arnhem: mijn vader Eef Mulder (1915-1991), musicus, en in het zeer grijze verleden voetballer bij Vitesse, is geboren in de Bloemstraat, volgens mij hier vlak bij,en hij moet hier heel wat voetstappen hebben gemaakt. Pa was musicus,-ik ben net als hij ook musicus/pianodocent- en ik heb nog veel bladmuziek in mijn bezit van de nog steeds bestaande muziekwinkel Bergmann. Aan de Johan de Wittlaan woonden tante Anna en oom Evert Schinning, oom Evert was volgens mij conducteur op de trolleybus of tram. (dat was meer dan 50 jaar geleden, ik ben momenteel 54). Ondergetekende, Johan Mulder, is in de hoedanigheid van dienstplichtig militair -Gele Rijder- met zijn vader nog in deze buurt geweest, zijn geboortehuis stond er in 1980 nog (boven een café in de Bloemstraat) maar wellicht is dit weggesaneerd. Anyhow, leuk om deze beelden te zien van de allermooiste stad uit het oosten des lands. Groetjes uit Haarlem van Johan Mulder

That's right! Harlem was called after Haarlem, the Netherlands. And the big fella with his back to the camera is the one who invented the book press. Mind you, the Germans think otherwise... They got some guy called Gutenberg who they claim invented the art before this guy did...
