The photo of the school is comparatively recent. When I left school in 1951, there was Ezhikkoodu, science block, central building with HM's and Teachers' rooms, northern building and drill shed. On the western side there was tiffin shed (with three rooms segregated for christians, nairs and ezhavas. The ladies' tiffin room was uinuised. Near the tiffin shed there was a well and only the waterman (Shri Veeramanoi Iyer)was allowed to draw water from the well. Has anybody got the photos of the old buildings and the layout. We had also a badminton court near the east gate and one at the rear. The football field was fully used. Near the southern gate, a tennis court was started by the then HM Shri Thomas and my father Shri. Krishna Pillai who was a teacher. The school used to be very much alive even after 4 pm till about 6.30 pm with football, badminton and other activities. At that time we had preparatory and forms I-VI (ESLC). This school was one of the first English Schools started by Aayilloiam Thirunal Maharajah in the 1860's. I hope somebody can wrtie about the past history of the school.
MORE than a century-and-a-half-old Methanmani atop the Karuvalappura maalika (seen at the north-eastern portion of Valiyakottaram complex of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple).
The antique clock is made in the shape of a man's face with a French beard. The man's face is flanked by two icons in the shape of goats. The figures of the goats stand ready to strike the man's cheeks. When the minute hand of the clock is about to pass the 60th minute, the mouth of the man opens, slowly. The goats simultaneously bang on the cheek, producing the clanging of the bell.
